1)ELAALRL4 The student employs a variety of writing genres to demonstrate a comprehensive grasp of significant ideas in selected literary works. The student composes essays, narratives, poems, or technical documents
I think this means that we are going to be learning how to write things such as essays and poems so that we can sow that we get the ideas in the things we are reading.
2)Which side of the divide do you fall? Are you closer to being a Transcendentalist or a Dark Romantic? Explain your answer with a short paragraph.
I think that I would have to be a Dark Romantic because I think that everyone has a bad side to them. I think that as far a Transcendentalist thinks, they just thought that it was only good and that was not true. Not everything that we do God would think is right so when they say god send you signs etc. they could be bad things you do and I don’t think god tell you to do bad things.
4) Write a 2-3 paragraph response to the story you read. You should explain what you thought of the story as well as how well it illustrates how the Dark Romantics disagreed with the Transcendentalists. You need to provide at least a line or two of direct textual evidence from the story you chose to prove your claim.
This was about a man that loved animals so much that people thought something was wrong with him. He had a wife that was the same as him. The moved together and got a lot of animals .He really loved this black cat but he started drinking. And that when everything went down hill and he started to feel violently about everything.
The first time he got really drunk he cut his cat’s eye out and later killed it. The night he killed the cat he house burned down. The only wall that was still there was the wall with the cat that he killed on it. They moved into a new place and when he was out he saw a new cat. It came home with him and it look almost the same as the last cat. Then he started to hate it and tried too kill it but killed his wife.
This was an example of Dark Romantics work because it had a lot of killing in it. One example of this in the story would be “I withdrew my arm from her grasp and buried the axe in her brain.” What he was saying in this was that he tried to kill the cat but his wife tried to stop him so he killed her.

Fashion
By: Jasmine Hill
What is fashion? We see it everyday it’s all around us. The word fashion refers to the styles and customs prevailing at a given time. It’s also said to describe the popular clothing style. Fashion is a style that you own and makes you stand out to other people. There are many types of fashion so many to choose from so I am going to give a little info about all of them.
One of the most important parts of fashion would be footwear. Shoes are apart of everyday. The first shoes were dated back almost 7000 years ago. At this time shoes where a big trend setter and still are today but, quit more fashionable. One of the top selling shoes in the U.S. for women is coach shoes. They are a good example of fashion, because there are made for comfort and style. Just think if we didn’t have them what life would be like.
One of the next top fashions that all most every girl needs is a dress. For a long time dress where the only thing that women wear. The dress is a very big thing in fashion because it’s very free for women too wore. One of the top dresses in the U.S. would be Faiviana this dress is very nice and looks nice on you .what makes them a part is you will always find something that fits you and how you look.
The next biggest part of fashion that almost everyone needs is a shrit . they are like the biggest trend in fashion because everyone needs them. They are so good because anyone one could find something in their size. One of the biggest seller in the U.S. would be cartoon .all age can wear them so that also makes them a trend setter. I think they will never go out of style because they are our biggest money maker.
The next thing that is a very big seller for man and women would be jeans. They are made to fit all shapes and sizes. They are something you could wear that can fit your everyday life. The U.S. has a song need for the because theses are what most people know and the love. The U.S. Top jeans right now would be Stitch’s Jeans Fox Sexy Skinny Fit Jeans. They are made of 98% Cotton, 2% Elastane and will run you about $209 but will last for a life time.
This past week was fashion week in London. Fashion week is a fashion industry event, lasting approximately one week, which allows fashion designers or "houses" to display their latest collections in runway shows and buyers to take a look at the latest trends. This year it was in London on sep.11 2009. One of the best selller in London right now is Bryce d’Anice he a lot of things in the fashion show.
All and all fashion will always be here because we will always need something to wear. Fashion will allways go out of style and come back in style. Fashion is the made up of different styles and new looks. Everyone has their own fashion and can make things look good. Now we know we are fashion.

Tattoos
By: jasmine hill
p.1
Why does it matter if you have tattoos or not? 85% of jobs today will not hire you if you have them. Some people think tattoos look very unprofessional in the workplace. I don’t think this is very fair because some tattoos have meanings. Like the old saying states never judge a book by its cover, today people judge people right off hand. This is very unfair to many people.
One of the most common tattoos people get would be when someone passes away and, they will put their love ones names on them. Also people get someone they love tattooed on them. Some tattoos tell stories. For example one of my friends had only god can judge me with praying hands. I think this is telling a story like saying that a lot of people put their judgment on people. I always like people that have a story behind their tattoos. It kind of takes you to where they where at the time and, you also can relate to them.
I think the reason that many jobs don’t like them is because they think that tattoos give off the wrong message. For example if you where working in an office building it would be a big distraction people at the job. At the same time when we think about, this is another from of prejudice. What if someone said you couldn’t work because you where too small or too fat. How would that make you feel? Maybe the people who think that tattoos are a distraction don’t know the history.
The first tattoos were made over 5000 years ago by the Polynesians. The desertions of tattoos is marking made by inserting ink into the layers of skin. Why do you think people would want too do this to their skin? In the ancient time a lot of mummies had them. This was said to show who you are and how powerful you where. Some people are still this way today.
People who don’t like tattoos say they look too unprofessional and that it’s not good for the work force. I really think tattoos should be ok if you hide them but, if you are working with people all-day I think they could be put away. But it all just depends on the job you have to do. For example if you are working where you have to see people all-day they could be put up. But it you are doing a job such cooking or picking up phone it should be fine.
Tattoos are a form of art that help define a person. I think if I where to hire someone they would have to be more artistic, because I think they would be more creative then others. I think that for jobs like hair dress and painter’s people that have tattoos would be the best for the job because of their style. For example all of theses job required a form of creative. Just ask your self would you want someone to do your hair if the had no style their self.
Now you have some facts about it would you say it’s a bad idea? Hopeful it’s not because it makes you who you are. If nobody wants to stand out then we would all be the same. This to me sounds kind of lame. Everyone should want to be different in their own kind of way. So this is why I say tattoos shouldn’t matter at the job. Because it’s all about how you work not what you look like.

unit 2 work
1) I think the word theme means to find out what the whole story is about. I don’t think that you would know what the theme if you saw it because to know the theme you would really have to think about what the message is.
I think the standard is saying that you need to know the message they’re give off to know the theme.
2) Romanticism is made your imagination or could also be said to be things that are not real. Most of the stories took place in the nature away from the cities because this is where most people lived at the time. I think people really liked theses stories because they look their minds off of everyday things and took their immigrations on trips. People really loved theses stories because we could relate to them .it made it all little more fun to read because the people where jus like me and you. They where not big hero at first it took them time and effort to get there.
Rip van winkle is very good example romanticism because it tends to take your imagination on a trip. We all know you cannot sleep 20 years. He fall asleep and thought it was the next day but it was the next year. As he approached the village he met a number of people, but none
"Whom he new, which somewhat surprised him, for he had thought himself
Acquainted with every one in the country round". What they where saying in this part was he went back to town the next day and nothing was the same.
The very village was altered; it was larger and
more populous. What they where saying here was that he went back to town it was people he never saw before.
3)This is an example of romanticism because they are talking about you using your imagination. They where talking about nature and death as if they where a real person. For example in thanatopsis William Bryant says, “Go forth under the open sky, and list to nature’s teachings while from all around earth and her waters, and the depths of air comes a still voice.” You can’t really take to nature so you really have to use your imagination for this. In this they are saying you should not be sacred that everyone has to die. They’re celebration nature because this is where it takes place. For example in thanatopsis William Bryant says, “To be brothers to the insensible rock and the rude swalm turns with his share, and treads upon.” What he is saying in this that is you and rocks will be one when you die. No one was better then anyone else that when you die you will all be the same. This was an example of promotion of common people. A good example of this in thanatopsis William Bryant is, “thou salt lie down with patriarchs of the infarct world with kings, the powerful of the earth the wrise, the good, all in one mighty sepulcher.
4)ELAALRL1 The student demonstrates comprehension by identifying evidence (i.e., examples of diction, imagery, point of view, figurative language, symbolism, plot events and main ideas) in a variety of texts representative of different genres (i.e., poetry, prose [short story, novel, essay, editorial, biography], and drama) and using this evidence as the basis for interpretation.
I meet this because in every story I used evidence. For example, “I would have to say that the native were freer and had many different gods. For example one god was beauty and that if u thinks but this you are running with your daydreams. What they mean by this was beauty is so deep sometimes it can fool you in to believing people are who they are not. The Puritans where much different because they though everyone was going to hell and that gods save who he wants .For example God "saves" those he wishes - only a few are selected for salvation.” John Edwards's said, there is nothing bettewn you and hell but air". Their ideas of gods differ because the Native American has many gods and the puritans have one. One of the ways I see that they would clash would be because the native are very free people and the puritans have a rule for their ways of living.”
ELAALRL2 The student identifies, analyzes, and applies knowledge of theme in a work of American literature and provides evidence from the work to support understanding.
I meet this because you have to know the theme when you are reading a story to know what it is about. For example, “Romanticism is made your imagination or could also be said to be things that are not real. They where not big hero at first it took them time and effort to get there.”
ELAALRL3 The student deepens understanding of literary works by relating them to their contemporary context or historical background, as well as to works from other time periods
I meet this because at this time everyone lived in city in to read this it helps them take their minds off every day things. For example, “Rip van winkle is very good example romanticism because it tends to take your imagination on a trip. We all know you cannot sleep 20 years. He fall asleep and thought it was the next day but it was the next year. As he approached the village he met a number of people, but none

The very village was altered; it was larger andMore populous. What they where saying here was that he went back to town it was people he never saw befoer
5)They compared nature and the world to humans perferaby man and how they worked from day to day. It seems like they felt work is the only way to keep everyday life going easy.I don’t think I really under should this writing. I think that it was a very good piece but it takes using your imagination to get this. What he is saying in this that when you go out into nature your its takes your mind away from everything. He says when he is out there he feel like he is one with god. I think that he is right when he says you need to be by yourself to be one with god. I think that he is doing a little too much when he says to have to go into nature to get all of this. But over all I think it was pretty good.
This is a good example of Transcendentalism because they really think that its jus you and god. They believed that if you where to go out into nature that you could talk to god because its jus you and him. They didn’t believe in sin because everyone was good.
And that when you go out into nature you could talk to god. An example of this is "standing on the bare ground-my head bathed by the blithe air, and uplifted into infinite space- all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eyeball. I am nothing. I see all."
He is sayings in this his body and everything is gone and he is in the sky and is one with god.
6)Self Reliance: By Ralph Waldo Emerson. The story Self-Reliance is talking about how much work and the thought of trusting no one was taking so seriously. It was trying to get at the way boys where raised up to be men. Working to them is a way to show their strength and manhood, and how their power was. ‘‘A man is relieved and gay when he has put his heart into his work and done his best’. This was a perfect example of how much work meant to them and their everyday life. I think what he was saying was you should go with what your heart is saying because this is what god wants.
This is a good example of Transcendentalism because they really think that it’s what god what you to do. They feel that god wants you to be different. So you should just do what you feel is right. This is a good example because they are going ageist what everybody thinks about you. One example of this is “a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.” What he is saying here is that you are going to look crazy but you shouldn’t care because god is with you.
7)The video was a very good example of Transcendentalism because the man was one with nature. He believed that it was just him and god and the animals. Something I thought was very cool was he lived out in the woods for 35 years by himself. An example from the text by Ralph Waldo Emerson is, “to go into solitude, a man needs to retire as much from his chamber as from society.” What he is saying in this is that you should go outside to think and talk to god. Because when you are with people it’s too much going on.
I think the standard is saying that you need to know the message they’re give off to know the theme.
2) Romanticism is made your imagination or could also be said to be things that are not real. 1)I think what they are trying to tell us that all lit. Is the say but said to be different. In lit they take us back in time and tell us about our ancestors. They also try to give us books that we can relate to so it makes reading a lot of funny because we can put our self in their place. I think they also try to relate was going on now and back then so they can see how their alike.
2)Beauty
So we all fall for itBut we do not know.It only prevails our perception.
Only to be fooled,by the truth we placed inside our false beliefs.Disappointments of pain.
Run with daydreams of fame. Not to be known.Only to be prone.
To those false beliefsThat fooled meinto loving you.
3)I think is a very nice poem I think its ture.this poem is tell how you can be fooled by how nice some one looks if that all you for in a person. I think to put it into my own words it would say something that looks nice is not always good for you.
4) I would have to say that the native were freer and had many different gods. For example one god was beauty and that if u thinks but this you are running with your daydreams. What they mean by this was beauty is so deep sometimes it can fool you in to believing people are who they are not. The Puritans where much different because they though everyone was going to hell and that gods save who he wants .For example God "saves" those he wishes - only a few are selected for salvation."John Edwards's said, there is nothing bettew you and hell but air". Their ideas of gods differ because the native American has many gods and the puritans have one. One of the ways I see that they would clash would be because the native are very free people and the puritans have a rule for their ways of living.
5)one of the new vocabulary words I have been using that I didn’t know, would have to be the world puritains.puritains means of 16th and 17th-century England was an associate of any number of religious groups advocating for more "purity" of worship and doctrine, as well as personal and group piety. For example of my new vocabs was age of reason which was a time in age that said god was not the reason for everything that since helped out a little .another vocab was Deism, which was a popular religious movement of the time . Edwards' Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, which was just another word for humanitarian God.
6) The different between the puritans and rationalists was sicence. The rationalists were about thing that I think we can relate to such as sicence and god. I think that the puritans where very smart people but they didn’t really have a very good understanding of life. For example They though according to john Edwards’s if god should take his hand from under you, would quickly fall into hell.the rationalists used what they seen around them to understand the world and how things worked. Ben Franklin flies a kite in a lightning storm this is a good example of what is now called sicence. Because he wanted to have an explanation for what lightning was and I think all since is the understanding of living things. The puritans just thought god was the reason for all of this. In today's society do we see some of the ideas we have read about in represented in our sicence class.
7)Ben Franklin was a good example of a rationalist because he was a very curious person and wanted to know how things worked around him. The rationalist really just wanted to know more then what people knew before them .they knew god didn’t make everything work that he got some help from science. an example an the text would be (temperance first as it tends to procure that head which is so necessary where constant vigilance was) page 93.my example proves he was an rationalist because he formed a hypothesis to see if he stopped eating and drinking as much would he be able to think better. He used data to back his info up, and we do this in science everyday.
8)

6) Cooking. Make a meal everyday.
7) Eating. Make sure I get 3 meals in a day.

12) Studying. Come to school everyday.
13) Silence. Stop talking out of place if it’s not my turn.
I think by doing this I would become a better person by going by this list. Everything on here I think I need to work on this list. I think what you see what you need help with and take action you can get things done. This would really help me out a lot.
9)What I have learned was that you can relate what we read now a day to old story because they all come from the same roots. I did some work and I saw that most of the work was the same as Georgia Performance Standards. I think that my work did meet the standards because I did have a lot of evidence and that what they where looking for in the standards.

Georgia Performance Standards
I hink our whole out look for this class is to become a better student. all the words they give us we already know but for time to time i think we began to forget. for example point of view tell where they charters are coming from and what they are thinking about.some of the ones i think i forget are diction and symbolism.i think we will always see theses word and need to know them so that is why we see the words alot.
